Childhood past and present- existent and inexistent

In the last two posts we have been talking about childhood past and present.

What if we had to talk about the childhood of our parents or our grandparents? Would you remember anything?

My parents' childhood experiences

My father/my mother used to ....

I don't remember anything about my parents'childhood ...

My parents never told me about how they spent their childhood.

She had to take care of ...

My grandfather married at a very young age.

My grandmother, mother, uncle and two aunts lived in a one-bedroom house.

Did you use to play hide and seek when you were a kid?

My great-grandfather was from Portugal

My ancestors were originally from Ukraine.

My father was the NAUGHTY child in the family

naughty = mischievous = badly behaved

My grandma would always complain that ...

Talking about the present, there are many kids that suffer from some kind of disorder.

ADD - Attention Deficit Disorder

OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

Do doctors and other medical professionals know how to diagnose kids with an order?

Here is a great example from the movie As good as it gets:

Now going back to our own childhood:

He doesn't look the competitive type/seem to be the competitive type
I used to attend school in the morning

I was very stiff (not flexible). I didn't have the moves/the "mojo"/the motion

I didn't accept losing to my older brother, although he would always win

He would defeat/beat me every time

I would take it out on my brother = I would transfer all my anger from another situation on my brother

I couldn't breathe normally

Now here is a situation we don't want to see happen to children, but is a reality for many people

Orphans

They are kept in an orphanage

Street kids beg alms = street kids implore for small change

Do you give money to beggars?

Beggars and street kids count on well-wishers, people who help others for nothing in return

What do you think: people who do volunteer work in an NGO (non-governmental organization), are guardian angels?
